Learner of the Year Awards

Three learners from Tentercroft Learning Centre (TLC) – Adrian Hawkins, Shirley Cairns and Mathew South - were nominated in this year's Award Ceremony which was held at The Lawns, Lincoln last Thursday (9th June).

There were over 65 nominations of learners from a range of learning providers across Lincolnshire, in three age categories: 16 – 24, 25 – 49 and 49+. TLC had 2 nominations in the 25 - 49 age range and 1 in the 49+.

Jackie Atkins and Julia Lawrence attended the ceremony and were delighted to see two of the nominated learners go up to receive their nomination certificates and vouchers. Unfortunately, Mat South was unable to attend.

Within the three age categories, three learners were identified for the Learner of the Year Award (1st, 2nd and 3rd places). To our further delight, Adrian Hawkins who completed his SIA at the Tentercroft Learning Centre earlier this year received 3rd place in his category.

Adrian put his life on hold for 18 years to care for his terminally ill wife and he returned to learning very tentatively. He excelled in his course and achieved his licence. This was the first exam that Adrian had ever passed. His obvious joy when hearing he had won 3rd place in his category and the pride demonstrated by his friends and family who were there to support him was very moving.

The evening was truly a celebration of achievement and we wish Adrian, Shirley and Mat every success in their future.
